Plant-based diet 1, Obesity/Diabetes/Hypertension 0
by Garth Davis, MD on June 26, 2015It makes me so happy to see patients 1 year after surgery and see the huge differences in their diet. I just saw a patient whose pre-op diet log looked like a slaughter house. Eggs and bacon for breakfast. Subway cold cut sandwich for lunch, and Chicken or steak for dinner. They had diabetes, hypertension, and were morbidly obese.
Now their 1 year followup food log was oatmeal for breakfast, salad and soup for lunch. Dinner is fish and/or chicken but mainly veggies. The meat is no longer the star of the show. they also snack on lots of fruit.
No more diabetes or hypertension and 100 lbs down. Looks so healthy and so happy. The family is also following suite. The refrigerator looks like the produce section.
LOVE IT.
