Just stop it already: Fruit doesn’t make you fat
by Garth Davis, MD on July 01, 2015Nothings drives me crazier than the concept that fruit makes you fat. Really, this may be even more ridiculous than butter in your coffee being good for you.
We are perfectly designed to eat fruit. We use it for energy or store it as glycogen, NOT fat. Fruit is filled with phytochemicals, antioxidants, fibers, vitamins and minerals.
This study is a huge review of the literature and shows conclusively that adding fruit helps LOSE weight. Of course it does. It is filled with water and fiber.
So please eat some fruit and if anybody tells you fruit will make you fat, feel free to laugh out loud. A good belly laugh.
